The Secret Sister Project
Hey there, friends! We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity and positivity shown during The Secret Sister Project! Thank you all so much for your kind words to those of us who host, and for being there to provide cheer for one another. Most of you can imagine how much work goes into a project like this. We ask that you read the post on the main page thoroughly before asking to join, and refer back to it PRIOR to reaching out to us with questions during the project. In addition, keep in mind that the hashtag #otspsecretsister is ALWAYS a fantastic resource for information needed, odds are that someone participating knows the answer to your inquiry!
On the Same Page
On the Same Page is a new feature here on Books Take You Places that I am hosting along with two of my very dear friends, Amy (Tripping Over Books) and Brittany (The Book Addict’s Guide). Essentially, we will be reading one book a month together and then each of us will be doing a non-traditional review of the book – though sometimes we might even sway from that and write up a nice review to keep the words flowing! Some examples of a type of “non-traditional” review might be:
-
A playlist of sorts
-
Character analysis
- A Pinterest board
-
Baked yummies that fit into the storyline
-
Spotlight on quotes that stood out in the novel
-
A review in gifs
-
SO MUCH MOAR!
Fortnight of Fright
As many of you know, September – January is my very favorite time of year and Halloween is my one true love! Therefore, it is no question that Fortnight of Fright is something that I love hosting along with Brittany (The Book Addicts Guide) and Amy (Tripping Over Books)!
For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about (hello, and welcome!) Fortnight of Fright is a time in which we host and share different posts related to fall and Halloween! We work with you guys and some amazing authors to showcase some creepy books, interviews, movies, and SO MUCH MOAR! There is no limit on what you can post about! Do you have a signature Halloween or Autumn cocktail recipe? Pinterest board filled with DIY decorations? A book recommendation for those of us who love to be scared? We want it all!! JOIN US!!
Bard on the Blogs
You may remember (I mean, how could you forget) that I am a Shakespeare fangirl!! Honestly, I have a Shakespeare inspired tattoo, two kitties named after Shakespeare’s famous women, my most important inanimate objects are named after Shakespearean characters..the list goes on and on! That being said, it is no question that when Alexa of Alexa Loves Books asked if I wanted to to join her in a blog collaboration celebrating the bard I jumped at the idea immediately. Thus, Bard on the Blogswas born! It is an event celebrating William Shakespeare, starting around his birthday, April 23! Alexa and I will be sharing some Shakespeare centered posts, and we want you guys to join in!
Classics Retold
Classics Retold is a fun event that was born from Project: Fairy Tale , which was originally hosted by Alison @ The Cheap Reader. This project will essentially work the same except we will be taking a classic novel or tale, instead of a fairy tale, and blogging about its adaptations. It works great for those of you who have wanted to read a classic, but haven’t had the time or for those of you who missed out during Project Fairy Tale.
Ooh! If you like audiobooks, check out the audio of The Golden Compass! It’s SO good and all the characters are acted out rather than just the narrator reading them. You’ve got some great ones on your list and hope you get to all of them this year!
