“Recommend A…” is a weekly meme, posted every Monday, hosted over on Chick Loves Lit. It’s a quick, fun and unique way to recommend a book that you love!
Recommend A…Book That Reminds You of Summer!
My choice this week is: Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
Doomed to – or blessed with – eternal life after drinking from a magic spring, the Tuck family wanders about trying to live as inconspicuously and comfortably as they can. When ten-year-old Winnie Foster stumbles on their secret, the Tucks take her home and explain why living forever at one age is less a blessing that it might seem. Complications arise when Winnie is followed by a stranger who wants to market the spring water for a fortune.
I don’t know what it is about this book but it just reminds me of the relaxing days of summer. Perhaps it is the ability to live forever that makes me think of a care free summer full of joy and happiness.
OMG I love this book. Can you believe I’d never read it until we had our Resources for Children class?! For shame. If I have daughters, this will totally be shoved on them.
I am so embarrassed that I’ve never read this book!! HOWEVER my girls (twins, 4th grade) are doing Battle of the Books this year and this is on their list. Since I read pretty much all of the books they read, I’ll finally be reading it. Thank goodness! When I see stuff like this that I haven’t read, I shrink down and try to hide. (I haz no cred)
